Abstract

Ultrasound imaging has gained importance in detecting cardiothoracic pathology over the last decade especially in emergency medicine field. It is a quick, non invasive, innocuous method of diagnostic tool which facilitates the process of investigation and management in emergency medicine. Detection of mediastinal mass by transthoracic ultrasonography (TUS) is less common compared to traditional approach such as chest X-ray, computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Hereby we present a case report regarding the detection of mediastinal mass by point of care ultrasound on a young lady presented to emergency department with complaint of pain at left shoulder and chest.
