SUDDEN ONSET OF NECK SWELLING - BUT WHERE IS IT COMING FROM?
Main Article Content
Abstract
Acute neck swelling is an uncommon presentation of ruptured aortic aneurysm. We report a case of a 77-year-old man who presented with sudden onset neck swelling while taking a bath otherwise asymptomatic prior to that. Bedside echocardiography revealed dilated ascending thoracic aorta and computed tomography confirmed a grossly enlarged aortic arch with extensive mural thrombosis. This case highlights the atypical presentation of thoracic aorta aneurysm and the advantage of bedside echocardiography in aiding difficult diagnosis.
